Today, the Ontario Science Centre invited amazing Canadian explorers and storm chasers - George Kourounis, Mark Robinson and Patricia Martel to give a talk as part of the exhibit called "Wild Weather". What's common and extraordinary in what they do is that they rush into places where 99.9% of people run away from. It may sound insane, but trust me - these people know their stuff and they say they always put safety first. This is something I also explain to people: your knowledge is your weapon as it helps you assess the risks and take proper action.

George Kourounis specializes in extreme weather and natural disasters and hosts a popular TV show called "Angry Planet". So far he and his team filmed 39 episodes from all over the world. He's been to all seven continents at least three times.
I think George's own marriage better describes him than anything else - it happened at the crater’s edge of the erupting Mount Yasur volcano in Vanuatu.
Want more facts about George? Check his personal website - http://www.stormchaser.ca/. George's gear and his best friend - his Honda CR-V with a mileage of over 450,000 km. This is the only car he's ever owned and it's been to so many places.
You can see bumps from gigantic hail in Texas.
360-degree light to see and be seen in the most extreme weather. By the way, no vehicle can withstand a really strong tornado even if it's armoured and has anchoring spikes.
While some people collect magnets from their trips, George collects stickers from hurricanes.
Mark Robinson works for the Weather Network and has a degree in meteorology. Mark often works with George to chase tornados and hurricanes in North America, but he has his own TV show called "StormHunters".
I asked the question what he says to his family when he's heading out to chase some of the most extreme weather ever seen. He said that it's usually just a normal "Bye" and pointed it out to his teenage daughter who was present during the talk. More information about Mark can be found on his website - http://www.stormchaser.ca/.
I didn't take any pictures of Patricia Martel, but she works as an Emergency Manager at the Ontario Association of Emergency Managers and helps people in different kinds of disasters.
I was really thrilled to be present at the talk today and wanted to thank the Ontario Science Centre for inviting such extraordinary people and hosting a really cool exhibit about extreme weather.
